Login help

Thank you for being a reader of the Orange County Register. We’re proud to bring you the work of Southern California’s largest news team as we continue a long tradition of aggressive, serious journalism that makes a difference in our communities.

There are several resources available to help solve your login issue.

All readers have access to a limited number of articles on our website and mobile app. Only subscribers have access to the e-edition.

Once you’ve reached your article limit, you’ll be asked to do one of these things:

  • Login: If you are already a digital or print subscriber, and you created an registration when subscribing online or separately activated digital access for an existing subscription, simply use the registration method you created with your subscription to log in when prompted. For example, if you are blocked from reading an article by a popup, this means that you aren’t logged in. Look for the Log In link on the popup and sign in with your email address and password.
  • Reset password: To reset your password, tap this link: ocregister.com/reset-password
  • Activate: If you are a subscriber who began a subscription over the phone, by mail or in person, rather than online, and already use our customer service site to manage your subscription, you will need to activate the digital access that comes with your subscription.
  • Create a registration: If you are a subscriber who began a subscription over the phone, by mail or in person, rather than online, and haven’t created a registration, you can do so by going to myaccount.ocregister.com.
  • Subscribe: If you’re not a current subscriber, you’ll be allowed to see several stories at no charge but will then be asked to join the many people who are supporting our journalism by signing up for a subscription.

I’m trying to reset my password but I never receive an email. Why?

If you have forgotten your password, click the “Don’t remember your password” link and follow the steps to create a new one. This will only work if you originally logged in using your email address and you created a password. If you use the sign in with Google, Facebook or Apple login feature the reset password button will not work since you used a third-party provider to login.

Are you registered for digital access?

To register for digital access, follow these steps:

To begin go to myaccount.ocregister.com and Under "ALREADY A SUBSCRIBER?", click the "SIGN UP" button.

You will be redirected to a login screen. If this is your FIRST time, make sure you are on the "Sign Up" tab.

From here, you can choose to login with a social account such as Apple, Facebook or Google OR you can enter your email address and password. Click "SIGN UP" at the bottom to continue.

Upon account verification you'll then advance to our Verify your Subscription page.

You're now on the Verify your Subscription page. Enter your last name and one of the three options to the right of the box. If you need assistance, please click on the "Message Us" bubble on the right of the screen and chat with a customer service agent. Once you have all the information filled out, click the bottom "CONTINUE" button.

That's it - you're now registered and you'll automatically be redirected to your subscription dashboard. From there, you can access your account and check out the e-Edition, manage your subscription or explore Reader Rewards. You can even stay up-to-date by signing up for one of many newsletters. Choose the topic and we’ll keep you informed!

General login help

There may be a number of reasons you are unable to login and access your subscription or account. In most cases, login issues occur due to incorrect login credentials, rather than an issue with your account or subscription.

Why am I being asked to log in again if I’ve already logged in once?

When you sign in, cookies are placed in your browser so you won’t need to log in each time you visit. However, please note that if your browser is set not to accept third-party cookies or your browser cookies are cleared, or if you switch to a different browser or a different device, you will need to log in again.

Anything else I can try assuming credentials are correct and I have an active subscription?

It may sound odd, but often if you log in and log out twice in a row this will prevent the issue from recurring.

Is there any way to access your content if I’m not a subscriber?

Non-subscribers have access to limited content. Our website home page, section fronts and advertising products will remain accessible to anyone, even without a subscription. Some content is designated for subscribers only.

The expenses associated with creating unique, original news content are significant. In recent years, we have made much of our work available online at no cost. The current economics of our business make this impractical, so regular digital visitors who are not subscribers will be asked to subscribe to help support the cost of our important work.

If you are one of our customers who already pays for home delivery and/or online access, we appreciate your ongoing support for quality local journalism. You’ll continue to have unlimited access to all our digital content as part of your subscription — just log in or activate your account. If you are a regular reader — and we hope that you are — then you will want to subscribe to ensure you continue to have unlimited access to the local news and information that matters to you.

You can view the current subscription offers by going to checkout.ocregister.com.
